Life is good no doubt but could it be even better? Could it be simpler? Maybe it’s about less maintenance on your home and the time it takes to do this? Maybe it’s about not wasting all those financial resources on space you are no longer using?  Is it time to Downsize your home in Whitby?

Why do Families love to live in Whitby?

Whitby is a City in Durham Region east of Toronto. The south end of Whitby borders on Lake Ontario. Transportation is very good via GO train and access to Highways 401 and 407. The southern portion of Whitby is predominantly urban and an economic hub and employs many people in the region; the northern part is more rural and includes the pretty community of Brooklin whose downtown is a designated heritage conservation area with some magnificent architecture.

Whitby is a suburb of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Downtown Whitby has a lovely village-like feel to it, complete with some true architectural gems. Boutiques, distinctive restaurants and historic buildings are all located in Downtown Whitby. It’s a great walking area and Families love to have pretty areas to walk and enjoy.  Walking with the kids and the dog is a nice Family outing.

Nearby outdoor activities include golf and skiing including Ski Dagmar and Ski Lakeridge in the beautiful Oak Ridge Moraine. You will find  seven golf courses in Whitby and vicinity.

There are activities for everyone.

Amenities for all community activities, great schools for the kids and beautifully located for proximity to the big city of Toronto with easy access to those rural areas outside of the GTA east along the 401 and 407 east extension.

There are many different styles and house budgets to attract all types of buyers.

Transitions In Life

Recently one of our Brooklin empty-nester clients downsized from an executive-size bungalow on a large lot with a walk out basement which basically doubled the square footage of the house. It was way too big for her. She was retiring as well and wanted a smaller home in the heart of the nearby city near all to amenities. Although she drives she also wanted a true walking neighbourhood. In this case she wanted to sell first and then buy. Everyone is different when it comes to this decision.  Either way it’s a stressful transition. It’s our job to help mitigate that stressful place where you have bought or sold one end and still have to buy or sell the next. In her case we were able to successfully buy a home on the first outing. A cute 2 bedroom bungalow on a manageable sized lot in an established neighbourhood. She was thrilled!
