Downsizing Your Home in East York

Get free e-book

We love living in East York!  This is our home.  There are homes of varying sizes and maybe it’s time for you to downsize your home in East York because it’s too large? The lot size is too big and takes hours to maintain that beautiful garden you have tended to all these years?

Who wants to buy my house in East York?

East York has two distinct parts separated by the Don River. Traditional East York is southeast of the river, and the neighbourhoods of Leaside and Bennington Heights are to the northwest. Many traditional middle-class homes in East York are being replaced with larger infill homes. The highest home prices are found in the more affluent Bennington Heights and Leaside neighbourhoods. There is something for singles and couples and Families alike here.

The new Eglinton crosstown LRT will add rapid-transit options to the area and there is significant new development in either the planning, sales or building phases.

The schools are amongst the best in the city, there are gorgeous parks and access to the ravine parks systems joining the south part of the city to the north. The amenities for shopping and restaurants are amazing.

There is great demand to live in East York. Families love it! Single and couples alike love it! It’s a vibrant and happening place to be.  There are excellent walking districts too, like the shops on Bayview.

The south portion of East York borders on the vibrant Danforth Ave and Greek Town. This part of the city is wonderful and a great walking neighbourhood.

Arguably, one of the most sought after areas in Toronto to live!

Transitions In Life

Here is a Story for you. One of our recent Sellers in Leaside had moved out to the West coast for work several years ago. We were managing the rental of their home and actually acted as the property manager for them during those years. After about 4 years they decided they were going to stay in Victoria and we were asked to market the house for sale.  The tenants were leaving but the house needed a refresh.  We were able to get the painters, handymen and some carpet installation in place and had the home professionally staged.  The home sold for a VERY good price. We managed all this for Sellers who were not local.

In this case the transition did not revolve around a Downsize but I would say that this was the type of home ideal for a Downsizer to move to. It was a renovated 2 bedroom home and had enough land to make it pleasant without requiring onerous maintenance.
